Two Nights for One at Melia Hotels All Year and a Spain Vacation Video
Melia Rewards just sent me my birthday present: Two for one nights at Melia hotels all year as long as I book by April 30. Their hotels include Gran Melia, ME by Melia, Paradisus Resorts, Melia Hotels and Resort, INNSIDE by Melia, TRYP, Sol Hotels and Club Melia. Melia Rewards used to be mas Rewards, but has been rebranded.
Before going into the details, I want to share Anna and Dmitry’s Spain vacation video to get everyone in the mood for reading about Spain. You’ve seen plenty of Dmitry’s photography in my posts about the French Riviera and Maui. Anna put this together herself and, well, I think it’s awesome. Very appropriately, it’s set to Ricky Martin’s mas.
Melia Hotels International is based in Spain and has over 350 hotels in 35 different countries. 158 of their hotels are in Spain, 18 in Croatia, 22 in Germany and the rest are spread out throughout South America, the Caribbean and a few are in Asia and the Middle East. Here’s a copy of my offer:
One of the most interesting terms in the offer is I actually have all year to travel with this certificate, though I only have a month to book.
It also does have a few restrictions. For example, TRYP hotels are not eligible. Neither are hotels in Brazil, Argentina, Paris, etc. I don’t know what “etc” means in this case, but I did go ahead and check rates at a few of their nicer European properties to get a sense of how useful this is.
Checking Availability and Comparing Rates
I gave a quick call to check the rates Gran Melia Colon in Seville with this promotion.
I’ve looked at this hotel before for a potential trip to Seville and decided this is where I would stay. The property is stunning and is quite well reviewed on TripAdvisor.
They had pretty much all dates in June open with the two for one promotion. I chose June 14-16 and the agent quoted me the rate of 227 Euros for the two nights total, which is the exact same hotel I found on the hotel website.
As you can see from the website, they do have a Melia Rewards special rate of 216 Euros a night that is not eligible with this two-for-one birthday promotion. However, it is only a 10 Euro difference so not a big deal.
I also checked the rates on other booking sites. With HotelsCombined, if you have a particular hotel in mind, you can actually check the rates on other booking sites such as Booking.com, Expedia, Orbitz, etc. all with a single click.
Expedia actually game me the 216 Euro promotional rate. This makes sense as Expedia does have a Best Rate Guarantee. But again, 10 Euros is not a big deal when we’re saving close to 50%.
Here are a few other nice Gran Melia properties in Spain, a few of which I checked do have promotion availability. The Gran Melias tend to be the top end hotels with Melia.
- Gran Melia Fenix in Madrid is actually #22 hotel in Spain overall according to TripAdvisor. I checked this hotel had availability in June with the promotion!
- Gran Melia Don Pepe in Marbella
- Gran Melia Victoria in Palma de Mallorca.
There are also a few good choices in Europe:
- Gran Melia Rome, ranked #16 in Rome out of 1,200+ hotels in the city. I checked this hotel had availability in June with the promotion!
- Melia Athens
- Melia White House in London.
And a few suggestions for properties in the Caribbean:
- Paradisus Palma Real, an all-inclusive property in Puna Cana, Dominican Republic,
- ME by Melia in Cancun, Mexico
Of course, to get the full Melia Hotel List, visit their hotel directory.
How To Get Two For One Melia Hotels Year Round
If you’re interested in staying at one of these hotels are two for one, here is what you’d need to do:
1. Sign up for Melia Rewards and enter your birthday. They’ll send you a certificate a few days before to wish you a happy birthday.
I am lucky that my birthday is towards the beginning of the year so I get 9+ months to use the certificate. If you are not in the same boat, just put a birthday you like to have. Put April 15 and you can celebrate tax day by booking your hotel! Or, more intelligently, put a day that’s about a month before you may be looking to book a hotel. Since you have all year to use it, it would be highly doubtful that hotel check-in agents will be matching your birthday to when you booked the room.
2. You can only use this once for one free night. However, if you have two people and you each get one certificate, you should be able to stay as long as four nights.
3. Call Melia Rewards Customer Service and give them your hotel, dates and Melia Rewards number. The US number is 1-888-956-3542. Numbers for other countries can be found here.
Summary
- Signing up for Melia Rewards earns you a two for one promotional certificate for your birthday that you can use all year.
- With two people, you can get four nights for the price of two.
- Melia Rewards has properties all over Spain and some nice properties elsewhere in Europe. This can prove to be incredible value for two nights in one of their properties for a European vacation.

Thanks for this posting. I just signed up for a Melia account to get the 12000 point promotion, and will use that (plus a few other points I’ll buy) for a free night at a resort in Spain in December. If they send me a 2-for-1 that’ll be good for another couple of nights. Awesome.
