The image shows the Amazon.com logo, which consists of the word "amazon" in black lowercase letters followed by ".com" in a smaller font. There is a curved arrow underneath the word "amazon" that starts at the letter "a" and points to the letter "z," symbolizing that Amazon offers everything from A to Z. The background is blurred with soft, warm lights.

American Express Offering $25 Statement Credit for $75 Amazon Purchase

Update: The direct registration link for the offer has reached capacity.

American Express currently has a great promotion for making Amazon purchases through December 31, 2013. When spending a total of $75 or more on Amazon.com by the end of the year, you will receive a $25 statement credit.

I was able to register four of my Amex cards, including personal and business cards. The registration for each card is separate. To register, visit the Registration LinkWhile you can spend $75 on each card you register, you are limited to only a single $25 statement credit for every card you register. As an example, I registered:

  • Starwood American Express Card
  • American Express Platinum Card
  • Blue Cash Preferred Card
  • Hilton American Express Surpass Card

Thus, I can receive up to $100 in statement credits.

Amazon $25 statement credit for $75 offer

This works for any Amazon.com purchase including:

  • Amazon gift cards.
  • Other merchant gift cards.
  • Any other Amazon products.

So, if you are not sure what you want at this point, but want to take advantage of the offer, it may be a good idea to order some gift cards. I personally plan to order gift cards to my favorite merchants like Sephora and Bloomingdale’s.

  1. Can you make multiple $75 purchases on an Amex Plat and get the $25 credit for each of them?

      1. Thanks buddy! I registered my 3 cards, viz. Amex Plat Merc Benz, Citi Amex and Macy’s Amex and ordered 3 sets of $75 gift cards(Sephora and Starbucks) — hope I get the promised $25 credit times three!!!

        1. Oh BTW, apparently Amazon Prime is now available for free with the Amex Plat – they credit you back the $79 annual fee that Amazon charges; not sure about the specifics of this program!

        2. FYI………..I’ve already received the $25 credit against my Amex Plat; the other two $25 credits (against Citi Amex and Macy’s Amex) are pending at this time, though.

          1. You’re always most welcome, buddy!
Oh BTW, my Citi Amex as well as my Macy’s Amex have not been credited with $25, even though I have received the gift cards already — I’m afraid I’m gonna have to call Amazon and have them canceled!!

          2. Just wanted to tell you that my two $25 credits against the Macy’s Amex and the Citi Amex have come through. Thanks buddy!

  2. Thank you for posting this. Does the credit apply for each individual transaction then? In other words, if I would like to get 4 $75 gift cards, I should make 4 separate purchases of $75 each then, to claim $100 credits?

  3. Some bloggers are mentioning something about syncing with Twitter. The terms of this registration link does not mention this. I do not use twitter so I am hoping that is not necessary. Is that a different offer?

    1. You don’t need Twitter to register for this particular offer although it is the same one you would receive through Twitter. Amex regularly has offers that you can sync by registering on Twitter, but this one is open to all. There are some other smaller Twitter offers around, but I don’t typically keep up with the Twitter ones either. :)

  4. Thanks Inna for the tip!
I registered my AMEXs, and just for kicks I tried to register my BB and Target AMEX but both were not eligible for the offer!
    Keep’em coming ;)

  5. AE has the right to verify that an item was actually “sent” to you before 12/31. It’s in the offer terms. Keep that in mind when deciding if an e-mail electronic gift cert qualifies as something “sent”.

  6. Regarding my previous commment, I think electronic gift cards should be fine based on Scott of Hack My Trip’s comment on his site, “Amazon doesn’t bill your card until they ship the purchase. The charge must appear on or before 12/31 for it to be eligible. This implies the purchase must also ship on or before 12/31.

Since physical gift cards are sent by next-day mail and electronic gift cards are sent within 15 minutes, the charge should appear on the same day as the order was placed.”
