Farewell, Hyatt Diamond Status… And Our Top 5 Moments Together.
In August, I went for the Hyatt Diamond status challenge. This was right before my trip to Milan, where I would stay at the Park Hyatt Milan. The challenge granted me a Hyatt Diamond status trial period where I would have 60 days to complete 12 nights in order to keep Diamond status for the following year. Although the challenge period to complete the stays always lasts exactly 60 days, the status itself does last through the end of the third month of the trial. In my case, I started my challenge in August and it was expected to last through the end of October.
Alas, although the status served me well during my stays through October, I decided not to complete the challenge fully. The cost of trying to plan extra stays was too high given the benefits and, as I outlined in my post on the subject, I found other ways to receive most of the benefits. I was prepared to give up my status at the end of October, as planned. However, things don’t always work as expected. Through some glitch in the system that missed my account in the downgrade, I ended up with the status until mid-December, lasting me through my two hotel stays in Hawaii: the Andaz Maui at Wailea and the Grand Hyatt Kauai.
Now that my status is finally gone, I would like to reminisce about my great times with Hyatt Diamond status by recalling our top five moments together and the perks I had with my status. I really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast, room upgrades and club lounge access. Thank you, Hyatt, for all your hospitality!

Yes, Diamond trial status is treated as full Diamond status so I got all the perks :)
I don’t know if anybody ever mentioned it, but during my Diamond trial (which I did not complete), I successfully got matched to MLife’s platinum status due to their partnership. It only took about 30 seconds online. Of course, I’m in LA, and this is most useful for frequenters of Las Vegas. On our latest trip, we got free tickets to Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Mandalay’s Shark Reef.
