The image shows an American Express Business credit card. The card features the American Express logo at the top, with the word "BUSINESS" below it. There is a large image of a centurion on the right side of the card. The card number, "3759 876543 21001," is displayed in the middle. Below the card number, the name "C F FROST" and the company name "REXPORT INC" are printed. The card also has a "Member Since" date of "95" and a small "AMEX" logo at the bottom.

[Expired] Amex SimplyCash Limited Time $250 Offer Ending April 28 (Must Be Approved By)

Update: This offer is no longer available. Please visit Simply Cash Business Credit Card from American Express for the latest offer.

In February, the Amex SimplyCash card released a new offer of $250 as a sign-up bonus after spending $3,000 within 3 months of account opening. That’s a fairly compelling offer, especially for those who like cash back! The card has no annual fee and offers 5% cash back for shopping at office supply stores, where I typically buy merchant gift cards to Starbucks, Macy’s, Sephora, Home Depot and so on to fully maximize my shopping rewards. Many of my friends, family members and readers already applied for the card and some plan to apply before the offer expires. After all, cash is king and can be used for anything.

Here’s a quick overview of the benefits. You can read my full post discussing the benefits of the card and how to maximize them. I also discuss there how this card compares to other cash back cards without an annual fee.

  • Earn $250 cash back as a sign-up bonus.
  • Use the 5% Office Supply Store bonuses to earn 5% cash back on most of our shopping by buying gift cards to departments stores, hardware stores, electronics stores, etc.
  • Choose the 3% bonus earnings category among airfare, hotels, car rentals, U.S. gas stations, U.S. restaurants, U.S. purchases from select media and U.S. purchases for shipping.

With those benefits, I’d also like to remind everyone of the terms and conditions and what they say about when the $250 offer expires.

Offer Details

  • Limited Time Offer: You can get a $250 statement credit after you spend $3,000 on qualifying purchases within the first 3 months of Card Membership.
  • To be eligible for this offer, you must be approved by April 28, 2014.
  • With no annual membership fee, it’s a smart choice for your business.
  • 5% at U.S. office supply stores & on wireless telephone services purchased directly from U.S. service providers
  • 3% on the category of your choice
  • 1% on other purchases
  • 5% and 3% apply to purchases up to $25,000 per rebate year then 1% thereafter. Cash back earned is automatically credited to your statement.
  • Terms and limitations apply

That is, according to the terms, it isn’t just enough to apply by April 28. You must actually be approved by then to qualify for the offer. While some approval decisions may made instantaneously, American Express can sometimes take 2-3 weeks to process an application and your approval date will only be set once you get approved. Although you can try to nicely ask American Express to making an exception in such a situation, they may or may not obglie… so if this is an offer that’s appealing to you, it’s probably better to apply sooner rather than wait until last minute.

(In the interest of full disclosure, I receive a commission for those who apply and are approved for some cards mentioned on my website. I always include the best offer I can find regardless of commission. As always, thank you very much for your support!).

  1. interesting. thanks.

-for how many amex cards can i apply simultaneously (same day) please?
-basically i to open this one & a premier rewards personal acct

    1. A business one and a personal one is no problem as you and your business are separate entities. I have never tried applying for more than two (business and personal), but two has been no problem previously. :)
