Just a quick note to remind whoever missed or forgot about my $200 Hyatt gift card giveaway:

My $200 Hyatt Giveaway in Honor of Joining Boarding Area

I will be giving away two Hyatt $100 gift cards, one to each lucky winner. The random drawing will be on Wednesday, June 11 at  8 pm and the winners will be announced on Thursday morning.

As a recap, there are two ways to win:

  1. Comment on the post: My $200 Hyatt Giveaway in Honor of Joining Boarding Area. Only comments on that post will count, not any on this post. If you’ve been reading The Miles Professor for a while, then comment with a good tip you found here that you either used or plan to use. If you’re new, then just comment with your favorite travel tip – whether it be an amazing miles redemption or a general tip.
  2. Follow me on Twitter and tweet me with where you would use your $100 Hyatt gift checks. You must include the hashtag #TMPHyattGiveaway. To be eligible, you must follow me and you must use the hashtag.

Entries are limited to two per person, one for each method. Again, good luck to all participating! I look forward to reading even more tips!

  1. My favorite tip is using avios for cheap carribbean flights! We have used that one multiple times!

  2. Redemption of United miles allows you to have one stop-over and 2 open jaws!

  3. Love the flexibility of combining points and money to get better rooms or nicer hotels, in better locations when I travel. I visit boardingarea each morning with my coffee. It like my daily newspaper in which I always look forward to reading to gain access to the up-to-the-minute deals and promos.

  4. I pack multiple reclosable plastic bags which come in very handy to separate dirty/wet from clean/dry clothing.

  5. Love Hyatts. Going to Atlanta over the 4th and would love a gift certificate to use.

  6. This is all new to me. I just found out about mileage runs and the difference between tiers and points. Whew. I have a lot of homework to do.

  7. The best tip that I have found and have used is the round trip and free one way on both United and AA. AA no longer has theirs, but I was able to use it before they stopped on a RT Hawaii and then one way to Barcelona this summer!! And on United I booked RT Antigua and one way to Barcelona last year!!!

Finding this out was really a bonus for me. From the moment I found your page I have shared, liked, read all your posts!!

    Thank you!!!

  8. Try to rent cars from off airport locations to avoid additional taxes and charges

  9. I love all the tips on the cash and points at the hotels, because I never seem to have enough points, so the tip for cash and points was great

  10. I have read your post (many times) on using avios points to get to the carribean and beyond. Great and valuable post!

  11. Sometimes I have found very good deals using airline miles for hotel stays. It works out great especially when it’s one you fly infrequently and have trouble earning enough for a ticket.

  12. My favorite redemption for the past 5 years has been 40K to Europe on AA in the off season. We’ve spent the last 5 Thanksgivings there.

  13. I always ask for all minibar items to be removed. More room in the fridge and no chance of a bogus minibar charge.

  14. Travel with only a carry on that you measure and weigh ahead of time. Rolling clothes, using compression bags, and filling empty space (aka in shoes) helps save space to make it possible.

  15. My tip is to avoid phone cards and use skype if you’re going to be making a lot of calls (to other people with skype accounts or landlines) while traveling. So much cheaper!

  16. Was able to use the free one way on a round trip to Europe this July thanks to reading your blog.
Looking to maybe get the 100K AA card as well….

  17. I wish you could still transfer points from Virgin to Hilton at 1:2 ratio.. Now it is only 1:1.5….

  18. Chase points to Hyatt is my new favorite thing (at least where Korean Air doesn’t fly to)!

  19. Hyatt in downtown area may be cheap in off-peak season but (valet) parking may cost the same as hotel room rate per night.
