Starwood Double or Triple Points “More For You” Fall Promotion
Starwood has just announced its fall promotion for stays from September 15 to December 15, 2014. It gives the opportunity to earn double or triple points for qualifying stays this fall. Registration is available here and must be done by October 31.
With this promotion, you will earn:
- Double Starpoints on stays of two or more eligible nights
- Triple Starpoints on eligible stays that include a Friday or Saturday night (Thursday or Friday night in the Middle East)
An Eligible Stay is defined as two or more consecutive nights paying an Eligible Rate in the same hotel regardless of the number of check-ins or checkouts that occur and post to the member’s Starwood Preferred Guest® account. Eligible Stays with at least two nights in the earning period will receive a bonus. An Eligible Rate is any rate that is eligible to earn Starpoints in the Starwood Preferred Guest program. (So that basically means only paid point earning rates, no points rate and no Points + Cash rates).

As always, you should check out the list of non-participating properties.
This double or triple points is going to be on base points only. That is, a stay will typically earn two base points per dollar spent at a Starwood property. Thus, the double points rate would earn four points per dollar spent plus any additional points from elite status and the triple points rate would earn six points per dollar spent plus any additional elite status points. Those that have Gold or Platinum status earn an extra point per dollar spent.
Is This a Good Deal?
It’s nice that Starwood is running a promotion and there’s no harm in registering in case we do have some stays coming up. I’d say this one isn’t particularly lucrative enough to try to book Starwood stays just for the promotion. Just more of a “nice to have”. I personally don’t have any Starwood stays coming up so I am neither excited nor disappointed by the offer.
This is awesome!!! I’m planning to go to Chicago Seminars in mid-October and opted to stay at the Sheraton suites elk grove near O’Hare airport versus the host hotel the Holiday Inn.
I made this reservation back in June and the stay is Friday to Sunday. I looked at the link of non-participating properties and this hotel was not listed. I just registered for the promotion so I should be good to go right? I paid for the hotel room using my SPG amex card so it wasn’t a points or points+cash rate.
Hope to see you there at the Seminars, Professor! Thank you for this!
Excellent! Glad it worked out. I won’t be at Chicago Seminars, unfortunately, as I have a work trip to London that weekend. But it should definitely be a good time so enjoy!
