Today Only: TopCashBack Offering 2.25% on Amex Gift Cards

It’s that holiday time of year when we may start to see increased offers on Amex gift cards. For today only, TopCashBack is offering an increase cash back on Amex gift cards and is offering 2.25% cash back. The catch, however, is that this particular cash back bonus offer ends tonight at midnight.

I don’t know if this is going to be the best offer for some time or if another better offer will be coming out soon, but this is certainly better than the usual 1.5% cash back we’ve recently gotten used to. Here is the deal:

American Express® Gift Cards & Business Gift Cards Cash Back Exclusive:

For today only get 2.25% exclusive cash back on American Express® Gift Cards & Business Gift Cards!

Warning: Many Citibank cards will charge a cash advance fee to purchase these so do some research prior to using Citibank cards or avoid using them altogether.

Keep in mind that, for Amex gift cards, you cannot set a PIN. That said, you cannot load these to Bluebird at Walmart and use them to pay your rent, loans or other bills. You can only think of this as an extra cash back for things you could buy otherwise with credit cards and you’ll have to get creative. In summary, don’t make the mistake of buying a bunch thinking you can use them to pay bills and then get stuck with illiquid gift cards.

Note: Existing members of TopCashBack can refer other members for a $10 referral bonus. I decided not to include my own link because I feel everyone should be careful buying gift cards, but do check with friends if they want to refer you.

  1. This is not my experience: Warning: Do not use Citibank cards to purchase these. You will be charged a cash advance fee

I used my Citi Prestige to buy 2k worth and it posted as a purchase.

  2. Got an email today from BigCrumbs saying Amex cash back “Cash back is set to increase on Friday, December 5th at 3AM EST, and will only last for 24 hours. So, you’ll have one whole day to fulfill all of your holiday and business gift card needs. ” No mention of what the rate will be.

  3. So, could I buy Amex Gift card using my Barclays US Airways card and later user the gift card at CVS to by PayPal card or at Target to load my Amex for Target card?

  4. If you have a Redbird (Target Red Prepaid), it’s a great way to liquidate AGC for free. $5000 per month per card
